The introduction of wind turbine energy provides genuine economic advantages for the many countries where energy production is dependent on the importation of fossil fuels.
- Wind is a free and renewable energy resource : wind turbine energy reduces the impact of oil price fluctuations, as well as the inevitable increase in oil prices in the future. It helps stabilise the cost of energy during the entire lifespan of the installations (twenty years).
- Wind is a local source of energy : increasing the proportion of wind turbine energy in the energy mix helps reduce the importation of fuels, and therefore helps improve both the commercial balance and energy independence. Energy production is therefore less subject to unforeseen political circumstances affecting commercial partners.
- Wind turbine energy benefits rural areas : it guarantees long-term income for farmers or communities that own the land or installations. As a result, it helps support rural activities.
- Wind turbine energy is free from logistical supply constraints : in isolated areas, especially islands, the supplying of fossil fuels is often confronted with logistical difficulties and irregularities relating to commercial shipments. The cost of obtaining such supplies is added to the cost of the actual fuel. Wind turbine energy isn't subject to these same constraints.
- Wind is an eco-friendly energy resource : it is able to reap the benefits of financial and exchange systems implemented in the context of greenhouse effect gas reduction (carbon credits).
