The Climate Group and CDP have welcomed six new RE100 pledges from Equinix, Tetra Pak, TD Bank Group, Interface, Dentsu Aegis Network and Workday to source 100% renewable energy for their businesses.
In February, our blog post focused on how the ambitious global initiative, launched at Climate Week NYC in 2014, was half way to its target. The signing of six new business to the group highlights the growing momentum for companies committing to tackling climate change.
Another new campaign launched at the Seventh Clean Energy Ministerial conference in San Francisco last week, led by Governments, aims to further drive promises from more companies across 23 countries to source 100% renewable energy for their businesses.
The ‘Corporate Sourcing of Renewables’ campaign is dedicated to scaling up corporate commitments across multiple markets and promote the renewables revolution to approximately 1,000 businesses.
RE100 previously predicted that 1,000 businesses using 100% renewables would lead to a tenth of all electricity-generated carbon emissions to be cut worldwide.
As a leading global renewable energy solutions provider, Vergnet commends the efforts of the companies that have signed the RE100 pledge and encourages other companies to sign the pledge and commit to 100% renewable energy.
