U.S. Celebrate Wind Capacity Surge in 2015

According to the American Wind Energy Association (AWEA), the nation installed 8,598 MW of wind power in 2015, a 77% increase in the total figure produced the previous year.

The U.S. Wind Industry Fourth Quarter 2015 Market Report revealed that the final three months of the year represented the second-strongest quarter ever recorded, producing 5,001MW of energy.

2015 marks the third highest year in added wind capacity for U.S, with more than 52,000 wind turbines operating across the country.

The report also highlighted that a large amount of wind capacity installed in 2015 could be pinned to climate conscious Fortune 500 companies investing in wind energy as a way to lower their carbon footprints.
