Vergnet recently presented at the West African Power Industry Convention in Lagos, Nigeria, which showcased energy solutions to help address the challenges the regional power industry currently faces.
As well as an information stand showcasing Vergnet’s extensive portfolio of renewable energy solutions and projects, Vergnet spoke at two conferences during the event. John Okoro, Vergnet Team Leader in Mining and Metals shared his expertise at the ‘Rural Electrification and Funding Requirements’ session, analysing business models for off-grid electrification and exploring future projects.
Frédéric Cheve, Vergnet Business Development Manager for Africa also presented at a masterclass entitled ‘Accelerating the Take-Up of Wind and Solar Projects.’
Frédéric’s presentation, available here, outlined key steps for renewable project development and presented Vergnet’s world-class case study of the first grid connected wind project in Nigeria, Katsina wind farm, with 10MW of total installed power.
Across the four day event, Vergnet additionally contributed to the Convention by highlighting best practice case studies and detailing its latest technology to provide cost and time savings for companies and projects in Africa, particularly in weak or isolated grid areas.
In addition to providing wind, solar and hybrid energy solutions, Vergnet offers Hybrid Wizard®, patented software which maximises renewable energy generation in real-time, lowering energy costs and delivering a secure energy supply to ensure clean, reliable energy when it is needed most.
At WAPIC, Vergnet was also able to discuss its latest project with Osun state in the Federal Republic of Nigeria for the construction of a 13MW solar photovoltaic (PV) plant. The project launch is planned for the first half of 2016 and is the first solar energy project of such magnitude to be completed in Nigeria.
