New figures show that the share of electricity generated from the sun and wind by the world’s 20 major economies, has risen by more than 70 per cent in the space of five years.
The data highlights the growth of newer forms of green energy including solar and wind farms, which have been encouraged through government subsidies in many countries in an attempt to combat global warming.
As a leading global renewable energy solutions provider, Vergnet recognises the focus being employed by governments around the world to invest in new and more stable forms of energy and is committed to helping deliver cleaner energy.
Vergnet’s track record spans 25 years and includes successful solar and wind energy installations across the globe such as the Ashegoda wind farm in Ethiopia. This wind farm is the biggest in sub-Saharan Africa and it consists of 30 Vergnet GEV HP 1MW turbines, 54 Alstom Eco 74 turbines of 1.67 MW and an GE-Grid substation connected to the national grid (230 KV/130 MVA) which supplies power to over three million people.
Vergnet is also currently working on Osogbo solar power plant in Osun, Nigeria which is to be commissioned in 2018. This will be a 13 MWp solar PV plant; the first of such magnitude to be installed in Nigeria.
