Vergnet has signed the final contract with Osun state in Federal Republic of Nigeria for the construction of a 13MW solar photovoltaic (PV) plant.

The project launch is planned for the first half of 2016 and is the first solar energy project of such magnitude to be completed in Nigeria.

The agreement was signed by Osun Governor, Rauf Aregbesola and Vergnet, with France’s Ambassador for Climate Change, Stephane Gompertz, reflecting that the project was the first of such magnitude to be signed in Nigeria.

In addition to the construction of the solar PV plant, Vergnet’s agreement with Osun State also covers a large training centre aimed at paving the way for future solar projects handled by local properly trained Nigerians.

Vergnet was also responsible for the construction of the 10-MW Katsina wind farm in the northern region of Nigeria.

As a global renewable energy solutions provider, Vergnet provides adaptable renewable energy solutions that help to reduce and secure energy costs for people, communities, businesses and economies like Nigeria and around the world.
